JC Fencing and Gates removes and replaces old fencing across Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine. We demolish the existing fence, remove old posts and footings, take the rubbish away, and rebuild in timber or Colorbond — usually with the boundary open for the shortest time possible.
Not every tired fence needs replacing. A couple of rotten posts, a sagging gate or a section damaged by a fallen branch can often be repaired for a fraction of the cost of a new run, and we are happy to do that work.
Replacement becomes the sensible option when the posts have gone at ground level along most of the run, when the fence is leaning enough that it is no longer structurally sound, or when repairs are already being done every year or two. At that point you are paying for the same fence repeatedly instead of once.
We will give you an honest assessment at the site visit. If half the run is fine and half is failing, we will quote replacing the failed sections rather than pushing a full rebuild you do not need.
The demolition is the messy part and it is where cheap quotes cut corners. Old palings and sheets come off, posts come out, and old concrete footings are dug out rather than left buried where they will foul the new post holes. Leaving old footings in the ground is the most common reason a replacement fence ends up with posts in slightly wrong positions.
All the material goes with us. Old timber, rusted sheet, broken concrete and the nails and screws that come with them are removed and disposed of, and we sweep and rake the line before we leave. You should not be left with a pile on the nature strip or a lawn full of old fixings.
Where asbestos fencing is present, we do not touch it. That is licensed removal work and must be handled by a specialist before we start — we will tell you if we think that is what you have.

The question we get most often is what happens to the dog. Wherever the job allows, we sequence removal and rebuild so the boundary is only open during working hours and closed again before we leave for the day. On larger runs we work in sections rather than stripping the entire boundary at once.
If you have pets, a pool area or children using the yard, tell us at quote stage. It changes how we stage the work and occasionally means bringing temporary fencing in, which is far better planned in advance than improvised on the day.
For shared boundaries, we will also give you a written quote you can pass to your neighbour, and we are happy for them to contact us directly with questions before the job is booked.
A replacement is your opportunity to fix whatever caused the last fence to fail. That might mean steel posts instead of timber, a plinth board so the palings are not sitting in soil, a low retaining sleeper where the ground falls, or moving to Colorbond if the previous timber fence never coped with the exposure.
It is also the cheapest time to add a gate, change the height or tidy up a boundary line that has drifted, because the posts are coming out anyway. Raise it at quote stage and we will price the options side by side.
Tell us the job, your suburb and roughly how much fencing you need. Josh will call you back to talk it through and book a site measure.
